| Imelda Picherit was born in France in 1971 and grew up in Morocco. She returned to her native country and began her studies at the University of "Plastic Arts" in Paris and then moved onto furniture design at the Compagnons du Devoir du Tour de France. A few years later she left for California to study film and video. She received her BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts (now called CCA) in 1999.
After showing her films in many international film festivals, she received two awards for Best Experimental Short (New York Hunter College Student Film Festival, 1999 and New York International Film/Video Festival, 2001). Today she focuses mainly on her photography, drawings and light installations.
Her sources of inspiration are the urban and rural landscapes, people, fashion and cultural differences she comes across during her travels. |
